Mixed Martial Arts training

Training at TMA with The Machine. A fully matted area with boxing bags. Here he will show you what it takes to become a champion. All aspects of training will be included, such as boxing, kickboxing and Mauy Thai. He will show you cage control against the fence and standing clinch work, takedowns and grappling. Having spent years in the USA, wrestling is a great art Ian has picked up as one of his strong points in his fights, along with his heavy hands of Ground n Pound. Having trained with fighters such as Josh Barnett, Bob Sapp, alan Goez, Aaron Riley, Matt Hume, Marco Ruas, Bas Rutten, Renzo Gracie, Ted Williams, Jason Godsey, Chris Lytlle, Jens Pulver, Jeremy Horn, Matt Hughs, Tim Silvia, Pat Militich, Maricio Gomez, Tom Erickson, Yuki Kondo and many, many more, submissions and escapes will round off your overall skills.

Cardio sessions will take place both indoors and out. The sessions are specially formulated for today's MMA fighting. Long distance runs dont always cut it for an Ultimate Fighter, so Ian has designed his very own unique cardio system that has worked with himself and many of his fighters. Some sessions of cardio may even include trips to neighbouring gyms where Ian has allowed them to use his training design. Ian has a special cutting weight formula that he tried and tested when he was to cut to 205lb. If it worked for him and his American friends, it'll work for you.

Training with “The Machine”

Here is what Sean Doran from Scotland said about my weeks training;

Having trained with Ian Freeman, I can say it has been one hell of an experience. Not only did I gain valuable experience, and learn great techniques, I also had a great time aside from the martial arts training. Ian met me straight from the train station, and was a wonderful host, as well as a funny character throughout the trip. You quickly realise that this “UFC” veteran is just a regular guy, and if you didn’t know who he was, you would never realise that he’s fought all over the world against some of the toughest guys on Earth.
The hotel I stayed at was excellent, with great food. It was situated in a very quiet secluded area and had horse stables on site, so I was able to go riding. Meals at the bar were reasonably priced, and as I mentioned before, the food was great.
The training was great as well. He did a very technical session in the mornings, followed by some sparring in the evenings where you can put it all together on a resisting opponent. He even took me to an MMA cardio class on the Monday night to give me an idea of what kind of exercises, as well as training theories, need to be worked on to compliment your MMA training (i.e. even in cardio sessions, you should be taking it from standing (pad work), to takedowns, to ground work). He also took me through the weight training programs he does both in the off season, and when there are a few weeks to go before a fight.
At the end of the week, I was feeling the little aches and pains that are inevitable when you are training for a few hours every day, but, long after the aches and pains are completely forgotten about, I’ll always have great memories training with a UFC veteran, and great guy, Ian “The Machine” Freeman.
